Save The Tiger Fund
Today, only 6 of 9 tiger subspecies remain, and there are fewer than
5,000 wild tigers in the wild. Since its launch in 1995, the Save The
Tiger Fund has supported 300 projects in 13 out of the 14 tiger range
countries with $15 million through a partnership between ExxonMobil
Foundation, the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund, and the National
Fish and Wildlife Foundation. The general public has also played an
important role.
Nearly $2 million has been contributed by thousands of individuals,
from school children to business professionals. These contributions from
our partners and supporters are making a real difference for tigers from
the snowy forests of the Russian Far East to the steamy jungles of
Sumatra.
Last year, the Foundation's Save The Tiger Fund launched the Campaign
Against Tiger Trafficking (CATT) to address the fact that wild tigers
are disappearing across Asia at an alarming rate while trade in tiger
parts is increasing. CATT is the only global partnership initiative
focused exclusively on building, informing and supporting alliances to
stop the illicit trade that is killing the world's last wild tigers.
