National Wildlife Refuge Campaign
The National Fish and Wildlife
Foundation has been working to protect and restore America's
National Wildlife Refuges since 1984. With 540 Refuges across the
country, these protected landscapes play a critical role in the larger
network of important wildlife corridors by providing habitat for many
species including migratory birds and waterfowl.
But the refuges aren’t just here for wildlife: they are here for
all of us to use and enjoy. Refuges provide outstanding recreational and
educational opportunities, and, because they are home to over 700 bird
species and are vital stops along migratory routes, they are
unparalleled for bird watching.
Here at NFWF, we work hard to protect
the refuges so future generations can enjoy them. We’ve made
Monomoy in Massachusetts and Cape May in New Jersey more hospitable to
plovers, sandpipers, and terns by protecting critical habitat with
fencing. We’ve got teams of volunteers monitoring bird populations
at Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, and seabirds from Hawaii to
Alaska are benefiting from our innovative habitat and species management
plans.
We are working hard, but we can’t
do this work without you! I hope you might consider making a gift to
NFWF to keep those lands healthy and available for all of us to enjoy.
And if that’s not enough incentive, if you give today, your
contribution will be matched dollar for dollar, and your gift will go
twice as far.
