President Obama launched the America’s Great Outdoors Initiative in 2010 to re-connect communities to the nation’s public lands. This 50-state plan focuses on federal efforts to create and enhance urban parks and greenspaces, renew and restore rivers, and conserve large rural landscapes.
NFWF manages two programs under the Initiative:
Developing the Next Generation of Conservationists offers grants to connect youth to the outdoors by providing financial support for youth conservation job training programs. These programs deliver hands-on learning through habitat restoration, assessment, monitoring, and other conservation-related projects.
