Program Description |
| The Pioneers in Conservation grants program is a partnership with the Washington State Conservation Commission. The goal of the program is to fund projects in the Puget Sound area that provide innovative, cost-effective benefits for restoring or protecting salmon habitat and a healthy environment on or directly affecting private agricultural or small private forest lands while complementing and supporting the economic viability of the agriculture or forestry business. The program is designed to help farms and small forest landowners provide on-the-ground benefits for salmon in Puget Sound's watersheds, facilitating the implementation of the "Proposal for the Prosperity of Farming and Salmon" in the Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Plan (adopted by NOAA Fisheries in January 2007) and strengthening ongoing farm-salmon partnerships. |
