Description: Control invasives such as Japanese knotweed and restore native habitat through planting native trees such as American sycamore, sugar maple, and sweet gum, and native shrubs such as button bush, silky dogwood, pussy willow and others in 1.4 acres of the Bronx Forest. The project will engage students in learning about trees and the forest ecosystem in the classroom and in the field and empower community volunteers to take an active role in restoring the Bronx Forest native ecology.
