Acres for America: Video Highlights

In 2005, NFWF and Walmart created the Acres for America program to permanently conserve one acre of wildlife habitat for every acre of land developed for Walmart stores. Since then, Acres for America has funded 72 projects that have conserved more than 1.2 million acres across the United States, becoming the largest and most effective public-private land conservation program in U.S. history.

In 2016, the program awarded five grants for a total of $2.6 million, funding projects that will create a sanctuary for coho and Chinook salmon and protect critical migration routes for elk, pronghorn, moose and bison. In other places throughout the nation, projects supported by Acres for America continue to protect vital fish and wildlife habitat for the benefit of native species and local communities.
