‚ÄčAppalachian Forest Renewal Initiative

‚ÄčThe Appalachian Forest Renewal (AFR) initiative is a partnership between NFWF and the U.S. Forest Service-State and Private Forestry (USFS) to support forest restoration in the Appalachian coal mining region. The AFR initiative provides targeted grant funding for restoration projects that improve habitat in Appalachian forests for key species, such as Cerulean and Golden-Winged warblers, Eastern Brook Trout, and freshwater mussels. Eligibility is restricted to state foresters and their designees.
