Information for Interested Participants

 2020 Repose

Thank you for your interest in helping to support restoration of pelagic fish in the Gulf of Mexico.

Please note that the deadline for NFWF to receive Request for Quotation forms has been extended.  If you are interested in participating in the project, Request for Quotations forms must be received by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation no later than Monday, October 28, 2019.  This new date preempts dates reported in the Request for Quotations form.  This change in the deadline is also being communicated via letters to all eligible vessel owners and the project’s community liaisons.

After three successful project years, NFWF and NOAA are excited to announce the 2020 project. Participating vessel owners in the Gulf of Mexico will refrain from pelagic longline fishing during the temporary, voluntary six-month repose period (January 1 through June 30, 2020). During the repose, participants will be encouraged to fish for yellowfin tuna and swordfish using alternative gear (greenstick, buoy gear and deep drop rod and reel gear) provided as part of the project.

Eligible pelagic longline vessel owners and/or permit holders will receive a 2020 Repose Package via mail, including a Request for Quotation form. All the resources in the package can also be found on the right side of this webpage in both English and Vietnamese. If you did not receive a package, but are interested in participating in the project, please contact Gray Redding at NFWF (Gray.Redding@nfwf.org; 202-595-2438).

To participate in the project, interested vessel owners should return the completed Request for Quotation form to NFWF no later than Monday, October 28, 2019. This deadline has been extended from the original October 23, 2019 deadline.Offerors will be notified about whether they have been selected to participate in the 2020 repose in November 2019.
