Protecting Species

For more than three decades, NFWF has been a driving force in national conservation. We’ve supported more than 16,000 projects that align with our mission: to protect and restore our nation’s fish and wildlife species and the habitats they need to survive.

NFWF programs span forests and grasslands, oceans and coasts, and freshwater ecosystems. We focus on funding the best projects, using the best science. We support actions that target species and habitats, but also benefit the larger set of species present in the places where we work. Our IDEA program manages and invests conservation funds arising from legal and regulatory actions to ensure that they’re applied effectively.

NFWF works with public and private partners in all 50 states and U.S. territories to solve the most challenging conservation problems. See our grants library for specific project information.
