NFWF Grant Profile

Restore and enhance longleaf pine habitat on public and private lands in the central panhandle region of Florida, including lands impacted by Hurricane Michael, to benefit songbirds such as the Bachman's sparrow, and imperiled reptiles such as the eastern indigo snake and gopher tortoise. Project will establish 800 acres of longleaf pine and improve management of more than 20,000 acres of existing longleaf habitat through prescribed burning, thinning and native groundcover plantings.
