Description:

The project will establish native trees and ground plants to improve soil structure, guard against erosion, support Lake Pontchartrain Basin watershed and re-establish the site as a symbiotic habitat for pollinators and wildlife. Project will purchase, transplant and maintain 150 trees native to south Louisiana like bald cypress, willow and 2000 native ground plant species like Louisiana iris in the New Orleans/Lake Pontchartrain watershed.

Grow Dat Youth Farm is a 7-acre urban farm located in the southern half of New Orleans'(1,300 acre) City Park. Prior to Grow Dat's establishment in 2010, the tract of land we currently sit on was an abandoned golf course, a plantation, and home to Indigenous populations.
