Description:

Protect the last stronghold of Townsend's shearwater (TOSH) and assess additional sites in the Revillagigedo Archipelago, Mexico for TOSH presence and potential threats. Project will confirm cat eradication on Socorro Island; develop a comprehensive and peer-reviewed monitoring plan; monitor TOSH across the archipelago; continue social attraction on Socorro to attract TOSH to a cat free zone; and develop a feasibility study for the eradication of introduced European rabbit on Clarión Island.

Revillagigedo Archipelago is comprised by four islands: Socorro (13,033 ha), Clarión (1,957 ha), San Benedicto and Roca Partida. It is located 460 km south of Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico. It hosts over 117 vascular plants (31 endemic), four endemic reptiles, and 103 birds (9 endemic, two extinct).
