Description:

The proposed project aims to test the accuracy and utility of an electronic gear location marking application in both mobile and fixed gear fisheries in New England. This project, done in collaboration with the fishing industry, will provide necessary feedback and data that can be used to refine the application. The results will increase the ability of electronic gear location marking to contribute to the reduction of gear conflicts and the transition to ropeless gear.

Tasks related to the implementation and oversight of this project will take place at the Commercial Fisheries Research Foundation in Kingston, RI. At-sea work will be conducted in federal waters approximately 20 miles southeast of RI. Vessels conducting research will be from ports throughout RI.
