Protecting a Lifeline for Wildlife in Mississippi

Mississippi sandhill crane on Ms. Jordan's property

Ms. Eleanor Jordan has called her Mississippi family farm home since 1943. Now, she's taking steps to ensure this incredible slice of "paradise" remains protected for future generations.

Located just a quarter-mile from the Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge and DeSoto National Forest, the Jordan property has become a critical connectivity corridor, supporting 14 federally endangered, threatened or candidate species, including gopher tortoises, carnivorous plants and the Mississippi sandhill crane.

Working alongside various partners including the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Mississippi Wildlife, Mississippi Land Trust and National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, this vital landscape will be conserved for generations to come.
