Ranching in Florida’s Wildlife Corridor

Living and working within Florida’s Wildlife Corridor, rancher Jim Strickland sees himself as both a cattleman and a conservationist. Through a partnership with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), he has transformed Blackbeard’s Ranch from a traditional cattle operation into a model for modern conservation. Supported in part by NFWF’s Gulf Environmental Benefit Fund, the collaboration highlights the critical role private landowners play in large-scale restoration efforts across the Gulf Coast.
