FedEx and NFWF began working together to fund community-based conservation projects in 12 U.S. cities through the Five Star and Urban Waters Restoration Grant Program in 2009. The Five Star and Urban Waters Restoration Grant Program seeks to develop nation-wide-community stewardship of local natural resources, preserving these resources for future generations and enhancing habitat for local wildlife. To date, the projects supported by FedEx have engaged nearly 600 FedEx volunteers along with 45,021 community members to restore 589,876 acres of habitat and plant 328,746 trees. This conservation partnership supports NFWF’s efforts to address water quality issues in priority watersheds, such as erosion due to unstable streambanks, pollution from stormwater runoff, and degraded shorelines caused by development.
