Darwin Huggins, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Law Enforcement Officer, Receives 2015 Guy Bradley Award
October 21, 2015 - Darwin Huggins, assistant special agent in charge of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Law Enforcement Office, has been selected to receive the 2015 Guy Bradley Award for federal wildlife law enforcement from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF).
Huggins was selected for his career accomplishments in the protection and conservation of wildlife and natural resources. Named after the first wildlife officer killed in the line of duty in 1905, the Guy Bradley Award is presented each year by NFWF to recognize individuals for outstanding lifetime contributions to wildlife law enforcement.
“Darwin Huggins has dedicated his career to protecting our nation’s fish, wildlife and habitats, and we are honored to recognize his substantial contributions to wildlife law enforcement with the 2015 Guy Bradley Award,” said Jeff Trandahl, executive director and CEO of NFWF. “His devotion and commitment to enforcing the laws that protect our wildlife are truly an inspiration to his fellow officers, and to all of us in the conservation community.”

Huggins has dedicated 35 years to wildlife law enforcement. During his time as a game warden and special agent, Huggins addressed many state and federal issues, including import/export violations, and the poisoning and habitat destruction of protected species. He has led multiple field investigations documenting violations of the Endangered Species Act, Lacey Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, and others. His leadership and dedication to wildlife enforcement is further demonstrated through his ability to build strong relationships with local, state, federal and foreign counterparts. Through training and mentoring, Huggins is able to impart the knowledge and experience that he has acquired with other wildlife investigators stationed throughout the nation and around the world.
