Studying manatees on Alabama's Gulf coast is part of the day-to-day work of scientists at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. Using tools like geo-location and by-sight observation they are able to learn about these quiet elusive marine mammals and better understand their patterns. With support from the Recovered Oil Fund For Wildlife administered by NFWF their team hopes not only to learn about manatees in Alabama but also to foster their population's growth.
